February 2016. The Hotel Cala Sant Vicenç, www.hotelcala.com, close to Pollença on Mallorca’s North West Coast, is preparing to welcome guests when it re-opens under new management on the 18th March. Formerly adults only, the hotel will now welcome children of all ages in the school holidays.
The hotel sits in the heart of Cala Sant Vicenç, a sleepy resort with three beaches where early rising holidaymakers can see local fishermen repairing their nets. The hotel has a lovely outdoor swimming pool, beneath a striking stand of palm trees, and a terrace looking out over lush gardens and the rugged mountain scenery which is typical of this part of Mallorca.
Innovations for the 2016 season include a new chill area by the pool, a private 45 square metre terrace adjoining a first floor suite, and the hotel’s finest suite, The Callero, with two double bedrooms and a private dining room.
The hotel’s Cavall Bernat Restaurant spills out onto its own private terrace for al fresco dining. A popular place to meet, the restaurant is also open to non-residents and the new menu will offer Mediterranean fare alongside Mallorquin specialities, prepared using the freshest seasonal produce. In the evening, the terrace is a popular place for cocktails before dinner.
Inside, the 38 bedrooms, including 17 suites, are spacious and decorated with wood hand crafted by local artisans in Pollença. Each has a balcony and the hotel has an airy gym, a sauna and a treatment room where an extensive menu of spa treatments can be arranged.
Cala Sant Vicenç is a popular destination for those keen to discover the island and spring is a favourite time of year to visit. There are some excellent walking, hiking and cycling routes in north Mallorca and with this in mind, the team at the hotel has created a dedicated service for those keen to explore.
The new cycling concierge will offer an invaluable service for every level of cyclist. There will be a dedicated person to speak to who can arrange as much or as little as needed. A similar service is also available to assist walkers and hikers and a massage can be arranged at the end of the day to ease aching limbs if required.
A five night stay at the Hotel Cala Sant Vicenç costs from £545 per person this March. This price includes half board accommodation and is based on two sharing a room. Return flights to Palma this March from LGW cost from £76.98 (Easyjet.com).
